"Recalling our own experiences in which we acted generously or with compassion for the simple delight of it without expectation of any gain can give us more confidence in the existence of a deeper goodness from which we may deviate."
-Ravi Ravindra
I dedicate myself to writing of physical strength and health and about the exercises, nutrition, and training that will enable you to find success in your journey towards health. At times, I write about nice clothes. Other times how to look in the bathroom mirror and find yourself with a pack of awesome abs.

But my true goal in writing of these things is that you will find joy and love in your health and that you will be able to share that joy and love with the world, whether that be your small corner of the world or on a much vaster scale.

Sanaya Roman wrote, "“People who love themselves come across as very loving, generous and kind; they express their self-confidence through humility, forgiveness and inclusiveness.”

And it is through physical health that I hope you find spiritual and emotional health.

So in this short little post today, I wish you all my sincerest wishes for your health and prosperity, now and into the new year and beyond. I've so enjoyed sharing with you all my passion for health and wellness these past eight months, getting to know you more, and having the opportunity to take guest posts from some amazing women, like Heather from Multiply Delicious and Sharon Shiner, RKC, from What's Cooking at Thyme to Cook.

Although I'm not one for New Year's Resolutions, I do like coming up with themes for the coming year. For me, I'm looking forward to a more "literary" 2013 -- reading more, writing more, blogging more.

So before we head off to celebrate Christmas with the fam tomorrow, I'd like to leave you with this quick workout video AND a chance to win a copy of Fitter, Happier, More Productive or Birth of a Hero Vol. 2 (winner's choice), the comprehensive and ground-breaking fitness eBooks brought to you via myself and Pat Flynn from ChroniclesofStrength.com.

Just leave a comment on what your health and fitness goals are for 2013 for a chance to win a FREE eBook. I'll chose a winner at random next week!

Awesome goals, Sharon! If you're already doing pistol squats unweighted, try loading it with a light weight, like an 8-12 kg bell. I actually find it to be easier than an unweighted pistol because it provides a counterweight.

Lose 40-50+ pounds so I can experience my over-60 years as a "thin" person again. Develop skills that I could pass an HKC if I get the opportunity. Be fit to SUP if I get the chance. Discipline in working out and to present as an example of what kettlebells can do in getting folks reasonably fit and strong.

For me it's to stay flexible and fit. At 56 years old with RArthritis and need and desire to keep the strength and flexibility I have fought so hard to get. Plus I love the feeling I get when I workout.

Once you know how strong and fit you can feel, you never want to give that up, right? Great job!!

Great goals, Tia and Mikey! There are plenty of progressions that you can use to reach some of them (e.g. perfecting and owning the snatch, pull-up, push-up). I'll cover those over the coming months. :)

Good question - question I've been pondering for about a week now. I know it sounds simple - but I want to do a complete TGU (right now my knee prevents me from going from lunge to standing). I also want to learn to snatch a kettlebell. I would like to be the most healthy version of my 53 year old self possible - I just don't exactly know what that is.

Glad to discover your site. It keeps me focused and motivated to read of others' journey.

Thanks for the kind words, Kris! Glad to have you aboard :)

The Turkish Get Up is a phenomenal exercise and a very good goal to work towards. In fact, I just read an article about how the medical community has changed its longevity test from being able to stand up from a sitting position to being able to stand up from the floor. The TGU can be a lifesaver. Awesome goal!

Access to health care varies across countries, groups and individuals, largely influenced by social and economic conditions as well as the health policies in place. Countries and jurisdictions have different policies and plans in relation to the personal and population based health care goals within their societies. Thanks.

Mash half a small avocado until creamy paste to get pastel green. Mix this into your icing. The avocado makes your icing thinner, but in a fluffy, pleasant way. Thanks.
