About Christine Mooney
Kallos "beauty" + Sthenos "strength"
I remember picking up an empty 45-pound barbell for the first time in 2006 and thinking, "Wow, this is heavy."
Now, I look back at that point and think, "Holy crap! I've made so much progress!"
Though I've been an athlete all my life--ranging from competitive swimming to playing power forward in basketball to running long-distance trail races--I didn't really start haulin' around "the big girl" weights until the last few years.
As a certified personal trainer, published health and wellness writer/editor, fitness expert, and lifelong athlete, I can tell you the progress I've made in that time has been nothing short of phenomenal. That heavy 45-pound barbell? I've added 235 pounds to it for my max deadlift. I can now do weighted pull-ups, complete the Russian kettlebell snatch test in under four minutes Test, and press 100+ pounds overhead, among many other achievements.
All of these gains can be attributed to two main points: intelligent strength and conditioning programming and on-point nutrition. And they roll up into a greater concept, one that is both powerful and graceful, and one that is the inspiration for this website's name--Beautiful Strength.
So with that, I welcome you to Beautiful-Strength.com! Here, you can follow me as I prepare for the Russian Kettlebell Certification in September 2012. But there's so much more! Metabolic conditioning complexes and strength training recommendations, athletic wear product reviews, clean eating tips and recipes, and much much more.
Most of all, what I hope you find here is the inspiration, the motivation, and the knowledge you need for your own strength and conditioning practice, wherever that takes you!
